Are you familiar with Resistance? If you live on the earth, in a human body, you surely have.
Resistance poses in every possible disguise. It looks like exhaustion, sleepiness, illness, distraction, new interests, lost interest and procrastination. Resistance is the main force keeping us from living the life we were meant to live.
THE authoritative resource on the nature of Resistance and how to overcome it, is The War of Art, by Steven Pressfield.
This article takes three of Pressfield’s gems, followed by my own questions to help you dissect your own Resistance. Then you can use what you learn to transform your Resistance with EFT tapping.
Use your answers to the questions in Emotional Freedom Tapping. The simplest way to do that is to state one of your answers at each of the tapping points. Need to learn more tapping technique tips?
Pressfield: Most of us have two lives. The life we live, and the unlived life within us. Between the two stands Resistance.
I know you’ve had glimpses of your unlived life. You get these glimpses late at night, when you’re in nature or when faced with difficult or painful life circumstances.
Clarity about our possibilities often comes in these poignant moments.
By answering the following questions, you’ll gain insight into your unique brand of Resistance.
What would you lose if you lived your unlived life?
In what ways would it not feel safe to live your unlived life?
if you lived your unlived life?
Who would you be if you lived the life you dream of?
When you use your answers while tapping on the meridian points, You close the gap between your life and your unlived life.
Pressfield: Look in your own heart. Unless I’m crazy, right now a still small voice is piping up, telling you as it has ten thousand times, the calling that is yours and yours alone.
Take a moment to get quiet, turn your attention inside and ask the following questions.
What’s in my heart?
What do I hear from my still small voice?
What is my unique calling?
Turn what you hear into your EFT script.
From Pressfield: Resistance is not a peripheral opponent. Resistance arises from within. It is self-generated and self-perpetuated. Resistance is the enemy within.
Here are some questions to help you learn more about your internal enemy.
What is your biggest enemy within?
How do you self-generate your Resistance?
How do you tell yourself that the enemy is outside of you?
How do you perpetuate your Resistance?
Use all your answers as tapping phrases. It will bring you closer to living your unlived life. It can help turn your inner enemy into your inner ally. Emotional Tapping is the best way I’ve ever seen for transforming your life.
